VMTechs Boot Repair Toolkit · ValiumMedia Techs · Last updated: 19 September 2026
This policy explains what information we collect when you visit vmtechs.com, download the VMTechs Boot Repair Toolkit, or buy a licence — and what we do with it. It applies to everything we operate under the vmtechs.com domain.
In one sentence: we collect only what we need to sell you a licence, deliver it, support it and keep the store secure — and we never sell, rent, trade or give away your personal information to anyone.
Who we are
The data controller is ValiumMedia Techs, 1019 Ashton Drive, Unit L86, Morgantown, WV 26508-6876, United States. Questions, requests or complaints: support@vmtechs.com.
What we collect, and why
| What | When | Why we need it |
|---|---|---|
| Name and email address | When you buy a licence, redeem a code, retrieve a lost key, or contact support | To deliver your activation code, re-issue it if you lose it, and reply to you |
| Order details: order/transaction reference, which plan you bought, amount, currency, date, payment status | When you buy a licence | To record the sale, verify your licence, handle refunds, provide support, and meet accounting obligations |
| Activation data: the Request Code your PC shows, a one-way machine identifier derived from that PC’s hardware, the activation key issued, and the date | When you activate or redeem a licence | To bind a licence to the PC it was bought for, prevent a single key being shared across many machines, and re-issue your key later |
| Visit records: date and time, the page you requested, the page you came from, your IP address, whether the device was a phone or a desktop, and whether the link carried a Request Code or USB serial (the code or serial itself is never stored) | Automatically, on our own pages | To keep the store working and secure, block abuse and fraud, and produce aggregate statistics |
| A review, if you write one | When you rate or review the toolkit | To publish it — verified owners only, and only after we read it (see “Reviews” below) |
| Whatever you choose to tell us | When you email support or send feedback | To answer you and improve the product |
What we never see: your card number or payment credentials. Payments are handled by the payment provider (currently PayPal) or by the store you bought from, and we only receive the order result and the details listed above.
The toolkit itself is offline
The VMTechs Boot Repair Toolkit does not send your data to us and contains no telemetry. It runs entirely on your PC and verifies licences offline using a cryptographic signature. Activation happens in your browser on our website, not from inside the app.
Our visit records
We count visits with our own software on our own server — not with an outside analytics company. A visit record holds the date and time, the page you asked for, the page you came from, your IP address, and whether the device looked like a phone or a desktop. Where the link carried a Request Code or a USB stick serial, we record only that it carried one; the code itself is never stored. The country shown next to a visit is worked out on our own server from a public database that ships with the store — nothing about you is sent anywhere to do it. These records are kept in a private folder and shown only inside the password-protected administration area. They are used solely to keep the store and the licensing system working and secure, to block abuse and fraud, and to produce aggregate statistics, and they are never sold or shared. Detailed records are cleared regularly.
Reviews
Only verified owners can write a review: you prove your purchase with the email you bought with, or with your activation key, before the form opens. We read every review before it appears, and nothing is published automatically. A published review shows the rating, your text, and the name you choose to type — or “Verified owner” if you leave it empty. It never shows your email, key, order reference or IP address. Ask us to remove your review at any time and we will.
Who we share it with
We never sell, rent, trade or give away your personal information. We share it only with the providers who do a job for us: the payment provider that took your payment (PayPal), the store that sold you the licence so it can fulfil your order, our hosting provider, and — on the pages that ask you to prove you are human — Cloudflare Turnstile. Those providers may use your information only to perform that service for us, never for their own marketing. We also disclose information where the law requires it. Some providers process data outside the United States under their own contractual safeguards.
Marketing email
We send marketing — product news, updates, offers — only if you actively opted in, for example by asking for the free repair guide in the download panel. That signup is optional, we send no more than one or two emails, and every message has a one-click unsubscribe that works immediately and permanently. We may still email you about your own purchase, licence or support request — delivering a key, answering a question — because that is part of what you bought.
Cookies and local storage
- Essential: the activation, checkout and admin pages use a session cookie to remember what you are doing and to protect against cross-site request forgery. Without it, those pages cannot work.
- Your choice about counting: a small cookie (24 hours) remembers whether you asked us not to count your visits.
- Where you came from: a small cookie (30 days) remembers which link or campaign brought you here, so our statistics credit the right source instead of guessing.
- Administration only: if you are signed in to the admin area, cookies remember the date range you selected.
- Browser memory: two pages note in your browser’s own session storage that a key was already shown. It disappears when you close the tab and never reaches our server.
- Other services load their own: when you pay, PayPal’s checkout script runs in your page; when retrieve or redeem asks you to prove you are human, Cloudflare Turnstile runs that check. Each acts under its own privacy policy.
- No advertising cookies, no behavioural tracking, no social-media pixels on our pages, and no external analytics company: our statistics are collected by our own software on our own server.
How long we keep it
- Licence and order records: kept while your licence is active, so we can re-issue a lost key and honour your guarantee — and afterwards as long as we are required to keep sales records for accounting and tax.
- Detailed visit records: cleared regularly; what we keep long term are aggregate numbers.
- Support email: kept while it may be needed to resolve your issue or prove the terms of your purchase.
When you ask us to delete your information, we delete it unless we must keep a specific record for legal, tax or fraud-prevention reasons — and we will tell you if that is the case.
Keeping it safe
Our site is served over HTTPS. Access to the administration area is password-protected and restricted, the visit log sits in a private folder that the store blocks from direct web access, machine identifiers are stored as one-way hashes rather than as hardware details, licence keys are cryptographically signed, and our signing secret is never published or shared.
Your rights
Whatever country you are in, we apply the same standard:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything wrong;
- ask us to delete it (see the limits above);
- object to processing, or ask us to restrict it;
- unsubscribe from marketing at any time.
Email support@vmtechs.com and we will act on your request within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first — for example by matching the email address on your order. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
Children
Our software and store are intended for adults and are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us their details, email us and we will delete them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will also be announced on the product page.
